Rachael Speedy is the founder of NZ Premium Foods and the driving force behind the foodies brand. With over four decades of experience in food and hospitality, she’s a passionate advocate for quality, local produce and strong relationships with chefs and food professionals.
Rachael’s vision for foodies Flaky Sea Salt was born from a simple idea: create a product chefs can rely on, every pinch, every time. That meant getting hands-on, working alongside suppliers, perfecting the process, and staying grounded in what really matters: care, quality, and connection.
She leads by example, always championing people and partnerships that make a real difference.

We take a natural approach to salt-making, using 100% solar energy and time-honoured evaporation methods. No chemicals, no shortcuts — just sun, wind, and patience. This hands-off process preserves the purity of the salt and protects the environment we rely on.
But sustainability doesn’t end at the salt ponds. We’re constantly looking for ways to reduce our environmental footprint, from efficient storage and transport to recyclable, reusable, and compostable packaging options.
